NRA Pistol Instructor Class
This instructor training course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course. Description: Course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training, and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet and NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course student packet.
Prerequisite:
- NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Lead
- Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
Seminar Length: 16 hours (8 hours per day over 2 days)

NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Instructor Class
The NRA Pistol Instructor Training Course consists of two parts:
Part 1: BIT (6 hours)
Part 2: NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Instructor Training (9.5 hours)
A Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO) candidate must be an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) prior to attending Chief Range Safety Officer Training. Chief Range Safety Officer candidates may complete their prerequisite Range Safety Officer training course the day prior to attending the Chief Range Safety Officer Course.
Successful completion of the Chief Range Safety Officer Course is dependent on:
Performance in class participation and exercises is required
Attaining a score of 90 % or higher on the CRSO examination
Must score of 90% or higher
NRA pre-course qualification will have a minimum passing score of 80 out of a possible 100 points

The NRA Rifle Instructor Training Course consists of two parts:

The principles, advanced teaching techniques, and training concepts in this “Train the Trainers” Defensive Pistol Instructors course is designed to administer a program that focuses on advanced techniques coinciding with functional and operational skills. This course will present technical material and operational techniques for the Defensive Pistol Instructor in shooting drills and teaching exercises. 1840 Inc is offering a 3-day Train the Trainer Defensive Pistol Instructor Course designed for the professional and nonprofessional shooter considering becoming a professional pistol instructor. This is a Defensive Pistol Instructor Course, NOT ANOTHER SHOOTING SCHOOL or SELF EVALATION THROWNING LEAD DOWN RANGE course. We will train on being an instructor for everyday application and the skills needed to be a successful instructor.

There will be at times when you will be teaching, and you will need to pass the Instructor Level Defensive Pistol Shooting Course. Each student will need to have the following:
- A pistol with a barrel length of at least four inches
- 700 rounds of training ammunition
- Three magazines with minimum capacity of 10 rounds per magazine
- Gun Belt
- Holster that fits your gun
- Magazine pouch
- Part 1: Basic Instructor Training (6 hours)
- Part 2: NRA Rifle Instructor Training (10 hours)

State of Texas Certificate Courses
Texas License to Carry Course – LTC
Texas License to Carry: This course is not a “how-to-shoot” class. We are Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Certified Instructors for the license to Carry Course. It is expected that the student has already achieved a minimum safe level of proficiency with their handgun, including loading, unloading, slide or cylinder manipulation, proper use of safety devices, and operational controls. During the proficiency test, students will be expected to be safe while handling their firearms which are part of the test. Prospective students who have little handgun experience are encouraged to visit the range prior to class and take a Training Class or schedule a personal instruction class.
Gun Requirements: Must be a 22 caliber or higher pistol.
50 rounds of ammo.
Eye and Ear protection.
Seminar Length: 5 hours plus shooting test at range.

TCOLE – Texas Commision on Law Enforcement Continuing Frirearm Proficiency Test
Each agency or entity that employs at least one peace officer or at least one firearms certified jailer shall: require each peace officer or firearm certified jailer that it employs to successfully complete the current firearms proficiency requirements at least once each calendar year for each type of firearm carried; designate a firearms proficiency officer to be responsible for the documentation of annual firearms proficiency.

TOPS – Texas Online Private Security renewal test
This the Renewal for the TOPS firearms proficiency certificate. You must have already obtained your Level III Training Course (minimum 45 hours) and test (including course of fire) is required for all* commissioned security officers and personal protection officers. This training course is administered by a licensed Level III Training School and taught by a licensed Level III Instructor.
